Urgent Artwork

Clients may sit with our designer by appointment to expedite the creation of their artwork at the rate of $110 per hour.

Proofing

Whilst all care is taken to ensure that artwork created is error free the responsibility for final proofing lies with the client. When errors after client proofing cause jobs to be reprinted it will be for the clients account. It is essential for client to check and approve all artwork carefully.

When Varsity Graphics creates artwork for production by the clients appointed printer it is the clients responsibility to obtain and approve a hard copy press proof from their printer. Varsity Graphics shall not be responsible for any errors or colour matching as a result of printing from that artwork by the other printer.

Client Supplied Artwork

Varsity Graphics can print from most file formats.
Preferred format is PDF.

  • Fonts to be turned to outlines prior to converting to PDF to avoid font problems.
  • Files for colour printing to be supplied at 300 dpi at finished size plus bleed.
  • Photographs and bitmap images to be sized at print size prior to placing in layout program.
  • Files for large format printing may be supplied at 100dpi at finished size for acceptable quality.

Word, Powerpoint and Excel files containing graphics are seldom suitable for printing.
Graphics created for web pages are seldom suitable for print production due to low resolution.

Digital A4 and A3 Printing Quotations

Quotations for A4 and A3 digital printing are for printing onto pre-cut sheets – no bleed with 3mm white surround. When full bleed is required but standard white surround quoted for then extra charges will apply.

Colour Accuracy and Reproduction

Prepress checks all submitted artwork files before printing, but you are still 100% responsible for the accuracy of your print-ready artwork files, and we encourage you to proofread all files carefully before submitting to us. Varsity Graphics is not responsible for any issues as to orientation or alignment of the pages of your submitted documents, if not supplied correctly. Varsity Graphics is also not responsible for any colour shift that occurs in conversions from RGB to CMYK colour modes. For submitted artwork, please use CMYK colour codes for best printing results.

Varsity Graphics uses gang run or digital printing which is subject to a 10% colour variance. We cannot guarantee that prints will be exactly the same colour when printed in future print runs. Because of differences in equipment, paper, inks, and other conditions between colour proofing and production pressroom operations, a reasonable variation in colour between colour proofs and the completed job is to be expected. When a variation of this kind occurs, it will be considered acceptable performance.
Varsity Graphics will always do its best to reasonably colour match reprints to prior jobs, but a variation in colour may occur due to length of time, machinery, and difficulty of exact colour matching. The Customer acknowledges and accepts that there are acceptable levels of colour variation from print run to print run, from stock to stock, from back to front and between different printing processes.

Returns/refunds will not be accepted if the reasons are due to personal perceptions of colour that cannot be demonstratable verifiable i.e. “The colour was not what I was expecting”, especially if the customer has provided their own print files or if proofs were provided (digital or physical). If there is a demonstratable large difference in colour between a printed proof and the final product, outside of normal process printing variations, Varsity Graphics will reprint/resupply at no charge. Production lead-times of reprints would stay the same with no artwork changes being permitted.

Copyright

Varsity Graphics holds NO copyright infringement responsibilities for all or any originals or artwork supplied by the client. It is the clients responsibly to obtain the relevant licences, permission or permits to use any images, text logos, phrases, slogans or any other copyrighted material.

Client Supplied Items for Laminating or Processing

Varsity Graphics takes all care with client supplied goods but cannot accept responsibility for any damage or consequential losses that may occur whatsoever. Laminated items especially are subject to creasing or other damage and no liability is accepted for damage to supplied originals.

Quality

Varsity Graphics provides both digital as well as offset printing produced using different technologies and cannot guarantee colour accuracy. Client to advise when colour accuracy is critical in order that we can quote accordingly. Issues where terms of the order or quality standards were not met to be addressed within 7 days. Any defective printing will be re-printed – no discounts given or refunds issued. Client to return all goods. Varsity Graphics will reimburse freight charges if fault due to their error.
